Badlands Run

Start your ride from Rapid City and take SD44 east through the towns of Caputa and Scenic. In the small town of Interior, take SD377 north for two miles to Cedar Pass, where you’ll reach the entrance to the Badlands National Park.  Be prepared to pay an entrance fee of $5 per motorcycle, plus $5 per additional rider.  The 30-mile ride through this no mans land is an incredibly spiritual and unique experience.  Throttle your way through rich browns, bronzes, reds and tans of this alien landscape as you encounter a host of wild life including deer, rabbits, coyotes and maybe even an eagle.  The only thing better than taking this ride on a hot August day, is taking it on a moon-light night. Words cannot describe it.

Many great stops await you on this ride.  A must see in the town of Scenic is the Longhorn Saloon, where you’ll find sawdust on the floor and genuine western-style hospitality that will take you back to the days of the cowboys.  When you arrive in Interior don’t blink or you’ll miss the little town.  There is a gas station and a restaurant where you can get a home cooked meal that only your mother could make.  Throughout the National Park there are scenic overlooks and places to pull off and take photographs.  Park roads are winding and steep in places, be careful not to bottom out!  On your way out don’t forget to stop by the world-famous Wall Drug.  You can pick up some great Sturgis Bike Week merchandise, get some free ice-cold H20 and even climb on a huge jackalope.  In August, temperatures can exceed over 100 degrees, so bring plenty of water, sunscreen and protective clothing.  Have a great time and be safe during Sturgis Bike Week!
